They are similar in that they both indicate turning to the right for one full turn, both take two beats to rise to high level during the turning action.

They are different in the method of recording. Example a) records the information within the turning sign. Example b) indicates the change of level through the use of a place high support symbol. The overlap of timing between the turning symbol and place high support symbol is indicated through the use of a simultaneous action bow.
